Resume Format

Rick's "claim to fame" is his creation of the Accomplishments Worksheet & Short-Form/Pre-Resume™ format. (See links below.) Why "Pre-Resume™?" Quite simply: professional recruiters do not (1) have the time (nor the desire) to review all the rubbish that job seekers send them and (2) job seekers do not know how to deal with resume filtering/screening software. Many employers have taken to setting their resume filters to reviewing only the first page of a resume--regardless of how many pages you might submit for consideration. Recruiters are, for the most part, only interested in most recent and current skill sets.

The pre-resume™, by definition, requires the long-form resume

In the eyes of recruiters you do well sending them spot-on, position-focused information--the Pre-Resume™. However you must be prepared when a recruiter calls after receiving your submission of the short-form resume and says "I received your resume but I need more information..." Your response? "I submitted my short-form resume to get your attention. I have my long-form resume ready to send over. May I have your email address, please?"

Short-form, long-form, phone interview & on-site

Your providing the right amount of information at the right time in the job search process goes a long way toward having a recruiter like you. Job seekers have a bad habit of providing far too much information in their resumes. Allow for 'white space' in your resume and save the details for the interview. Einstein said "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." If things haven't been going so well your way maybe it's time you tried the Really Useful Job Company method.
